Online presence on social media

We maintain an online presence on social networks and platforms in order to be able to communicate with customers, prospects and users who are active there and to be able to inform them there about our services.

Please note that this may involve users' data being processed outside of the European Union. This can result in certain risks for users, as, for example, the assertion of users' rights could become more difficult. In respect of US providers certified under the Privacy Shield, please be advised that they undertake to adhere to EU data protection standards.

Furthermore, users' data is as a rule processed for market research and advertising purposes. It is possible, for example, that usage profiles may be created from usage patterns and the users' interests that they suggest. The usage profiles can in turn be used in order, for example, to show advertisements on and outside of the platforms that are presumed to correspond to the users' interests. For these purposes cookies are generally placed on the users' computers to store the users' interests and usage behaviour. Furthermore it is possible for the data that gets saved in the usage profiles to include data independent of the devices used by the user (especially if the users are members of the respective platforms and are logged in to them).

The processing of users' personal data takes place on the basis of our legitimate interest in effective provision of information to and communication with users as per GDPR Article 6.1.f. If the users are asked by the respective provider to give their consent for the data processing (i.e. to declare their agreement by checking a checkbox or clicking a button), the legal basis for the processing is Article 6.1.a and Article 7 of the GDPR.

For a detailed account of how the data is processed in each case and how you can opt out, please refer to the providers' information linked to below.

Please note too that requesting information or asserting user rights can be done most effectively by contacting the providers. In each instance only the providers have access to the user data and can immediately take appropriate action and provide information. If you do nevertheless need help, you can also contact us.

Link buttons to social networks and mail programmes

If while using our site you are logged in with your account on one of these social networks and want to share our content, this information gets linked to your account for that network. We as the operator of our site have no influence over the data that gets relayed by link buttons to corresponding servers. Generally the IP address gets transferred.
